Does IT Matter?

Hello,

If you are an IT guy please don’t shout on my face. It’s a book name: Does It matter? by Nicholas G. Carr.

He is talking about the IT and how some companies just implement the system because they think it will give them competitive advantage over other companies.
I don’t really start reading the book, but I am read some pages from it now. Also, I see Mr. Carr in on of the TV shows talking about his book. In some ideas I really agree with him. In others I should not agree because I am an IT guy and that what make me live :D.

If you want to read about the opposite viewpoint you should read this book.

you know, i haven’t read the book myself, but yes. does it mater

I’d like to quote something : “civilization advances by the number of important operations we could do, without thinking about them” whitehead.

simply computers automate things for you and makes data manipulation more convenient
The thing is, IT supports other disciplines. we don’t develop IT for the sake of IT, in companies their is a core discipline, and all other departments support that core discipline, IT is one of them.

    Hello Ahmed.

The book is not talking about should we use IT or shouldn’t we ..

It talk about the advantage for the business to implement their system and the competitive advantage for this system will not last for more than one year or so.

and talking about a lot of things I will try to summarize them with I start to read the book :D.
