The book is not talking about should we use IT or shouldn't we ..

It talk about the advantage for the business to implement their system and the competitive advantage for this system will not last for more than one year or so.

and talking about a lot of things I will try to summarize them with I start to read the book :D.</description>

I'd like to quote something : "civilization advances by the number of important operations we could do, without thinking about them" whitehead.

simply computers automate things for you and makes data manipulation more convenient  
The thing is, IT supports other disciplines. we don't develop IT for the sake of IT, in companies their is a core discipline, and all other departments support that core discipline, IT is one of them.
